THE CLEANING HACK THAT SAVED ME 3 HOURS

Woman vacuuming and mopping hardwood floor while child plays with blocks on rug

Before owning a wet dry vacuum, I genuinely had to choose between vacuuming or mopping because there was absolutely no chance both were happening in the same day with three kids at home.

If I vacuumed?
Amazing. Crumbs gone.

If I mopped?
Cool. Now I’m just pushing crushed Goldfish around with a mop while stepping on cereal pieces.

And the second the floors were clean, someone would spill yogurt, track mud inside, or launch an entire snack cup onto the kitchen tile.

That’s why getting a wet dry vac completely changed my cleaning routine.

Why I Love a Wet Dry Vacuum as a Mom of 3

A wet dry vac vacuums and mops at the same time, which honestly feels like the only realistic way to clean floors during this season of life.

Instead of:

  • sweeping first
  • vacuuming second
  • filling a mop bucket, or struggling to get the reusable pad on a steam mop
  • mopping last
  • struggling to clean the mop after

…I can just do one quick pass through the kitchen and survive another day of snack destruction.

The biggest benefits:

✔ Cleans wet + dry messes together
✔ Saves SO much time
✔ Great for under high chairs
✔ Handles sticky floors better than a regular vacuum
✔ Makes daily cleaning feel manageable instead of overwhelming

What My Floors Usually Look Like

On any given day, my floors include:

  • crushed crackers
  • smoothie drips
  • dried milk
  • dog hair
  • mystery stickiness
  • stale Cheerios under the car seat
  • and approximately 47 crumbs around the high chair

A wet dry vac has honestly been one of the few cleaning products that feels worth the storage space.

The One I Use

👉 Tineco Wet / Dry

If you’re a busy parent and constantly feel behind on floor cleaning, this is one of those purchases that actually makes everyday life easier.

Not in an “Instagram-perfect-home” way.

In a “my kitchen floor no longer feels crunchy” kind of way.

Final Thoughts

I used to think wet dry vacs were one of those overhyped cleaning gadgets.

Turns out, they’re actually just made for people who don’t have time to vacuum and mop separately. And cordless was a big benefit for the early days with a baby who needed to be held a lot. The battery life lasts long enough for a thorough cleaning of about 2000 square feet of wood and tile floors.

So if your house also looks like a snack tornado passed through it daily… highly recommend.
